This appears to be the only project that is still completely without activity. Id like to get started with anyone else who is also espousing this one.

This could be an interesting project. Space always needs more positive publicity and who doesn't like a party?

Yuri's Night in Madrid - Spain

Hi all,

My name is Juan Carlos. I'm an undergraduate student in Aerospace Engineering in Madrid. I'm collaborating in some projects like cubesats, ground stations, satellites and rockets in Europe and Internationally. Also, I'm one of the founders of LEEM, acronym in spanish of Laboratory for Space and Microgravity Research, and I've been selected into this association to organize the first Yuri's night in the capital of Spain.

I hope to interchange as much information as possible with you.

About party organization

I'd like to know what activities, in your opinion, should be done in one of these parties. What things would you like to find if you attend one of them. These activities don't have to be necessarily at night but they can be developed for all day.

Model Rockets

Carlos I think the activity I would favor most myself is launching several model rockets. This can be done as a competition and/or simply as an enjoyable event. You could tie a model rocket building activity into it beforehand. Maybe even use some small groups building larger rockets so they can put their own little model Yuri in there. This one might be prohibitively expensive for some groups but I think you could set up a small scale one for a hundred dollars or less.

Re: Model Rocket

Thanks for your advice, another. We thought about building a model of Vostok rocket (or buying it in case of we didn't have enough time to do it) and launching it at the same time as the original. Also, we'd like to project on a big screen videos while the music is playing (We are trying to get the licenses). And it would be fantastic if we could obtain videos of important people from space world greeting to the attendants. Could some of you help us to obtain some of these videos?

A good idea

I've been talking to my friends and we've agreed as follows: we are going to emit videos of people from around the world greeting people of our party. So I encourage you to send me a video of you and or without your friends greeting us. It could be: Hello Madrid (or Spain), my name is ..., I'm from University of..., I want to say hello to LEEM's people (the party organizer) and wish you a good Yuri's night.

We guarantee all videos will be emitted

What do you think about this iniciative? Could you help me to collect as many videos as possible?

I like the idea with the videos.

I'm curious about your party. Are you having it during the day (since there's talk of launching rockets) or at night(since it's supposed to be Yuri's NIGHT)? Where are you holding it? I know Madrid, but indoors/outdoors? Is this expected to be a very general public event or is it mostly space organizations and students? Would you have the videos playing during the whole event? It seems like it would provide a cool atmosphere.

Ideas

We want to have activities during all day. We are going to negociate the licenses to have the possibility of projecting some videos and series about space in a concert hall near by where the party is going to take place. We want also to obtain permission to launch a model vostok rocket. In the night, the party will be outdoors (most likely). The idea is maintaining all activities as public, but possibly most people will be students.

We need videos from all around the world greeting our people. Could you send us one of them?.

at the place of the party we

at the place of the party we could put some banners having the success stories of some big names..as most of the crowd will be students it might help them to find some guidance from them..example the movie "october sky"(am refering to it as nothing else is strking my mind at the moment }tells about a student who follows his dream n passion on rockets n is now a rocket scienctist in NASA. we can summarize the career history of one person per stand up banner(4.5 feet by 3 feet)..!

Your Decision

I don't know with certainty but what I understood and what I put in my own application were just the ones that I had an interest in participating in. Then to make that a reality I started posting in those projects. Thus I am involved here in the Yuri's Night project and the Case for Human Exploration project. If this low activity persists I may end up in another one to try and help boost things generally.

Ahoy there!

I finally figured out where the forums are for SGC 2007. Go me!

Info:

Name: Ben Corbin
School: University of Central Florida, SEDS@UCF President
Major: Aerospace Engineering
Minors: Physics, Astronomy, Mathematics
Yuri's Night Involvement: Hosted Yuri's Knight 2007 ("Knight" because we're the Knights) at an apartment complex, complete with a volleyball tournament, trivia contest, and a flight simulator courtesy of the Orbital Commerce Project.

We really want to throw something huge in Orlando next year because Yuri's Night will be on a Saturday. We've been thinking about throwing a block party downtown or taking over one of the theme parks (Disney, Universal) and seeing if they would go for a space themed event.

Nice to meet you all! Can't wait to see you in India! And hopefully my HTML works on this forum.

Welcome Benacor. That

Welcome Benacor. That sounds like an awesome party you want to put on. ALways good to get a few more going around the world. I'm afraid this particular topic is a bit quiet but I think if we start putting more ideas out there it will pick up.
