UN COPUOS
UN COPUOS Action Teams and Working Groups
An important way for policy input of SGAC is to bring your voice to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN COPUOS) through participation in several so-called Action Teams and Working Groups.
UN COPUOS established 12 Action Teams to implement the recommendations of the Third United Nations Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNISPACE III) that had been accorded the highest priority by Member States or for which there had been an offer by a Member State to lead associated activities.
SGAC is participating in 10 of them:
• Action Team 1 on the Environmental Monitoring Strategy
• Action Team 2 on the Management of Natural Resources
• Action Team 6 on Public Health
• Action Team 7 on Disaster Management
• Action Team 9 on Knowledge-sharing
• Action Team 11 on Sustainable Development
• Action Team 14 on Near-Earth Objects
• Action Team 17 on Capacity-building
• Action Team 18 on Increasing Awareness
• Action Team 32 on Innovative Sources of Financing
In addition to the Action Teams, COPUOS also has various Working Groups in which SGAC is also participating:
• Working Group on Nuclear Power Sources in Outer Space
• Working Group on Space Debris
