America In Space - Technical Symposium on 50 Years of United States Space Exploration
Date and Time
Description
Huntsville Alabama, the Rocket City, will host a technical symposium, America in Space—50 Years of U.S. Space Exploration-- on February 1-2, 2008 at the new Davidson Space Exploration Center on the campus of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
The idea came from Konrad Dannenberg who at the age of 95 continues to function like a rocket scientist planning seminars, rallying his colleagues and calling meetings. Dannenberg, an original member of the Wernher von Braun rocket team, wants to bring the members of the Saturn launch vehicle team together with the Ares team to share experiences and insight. Dannenberg has extended the invitation to rocketeers in Russia, who developed Sputnik and was competitors of the U.S. in the race to the moon.
Engineers and managers of the Redstone, Jupiter, Saturn-Apollo, Skylab, Space Shuttle and Ares will discuss design, manufacturing, testing of launch vehicles and payloads and the challenge to design and retain reliability in man-rated systems.
The Huntsville chapters of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Marshall Retirees Association and the National Space Club are sponsoring the event designed to bring together generations of rocket scientists in the cradle of rocket science, Huntsville,Alabama.
