University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus
The University of the West Indies (UWI) is the oldest tertiary institution in the Caribbean, starting out in 1948 at the Mona Campus in Kingston, Jamaica as a college of the University of London. It gained full university status in 1962 and has campuses spread across several Caribbean islands. Read more about UWI Mona history here
The UWI Physics Department, a part of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences at Mona, conducts research in several areas in the Space domain including GPS Error Correction, Climate Studies and Astrophysics. See here for a list of current research activities in the Physics Department.
