Round 2 Survey processing?

I am aware that there is still a concern with the schedule. A few weeks ago, Chris posted his concerns that we were behind schedule as far as the survey was concerned. Also, Round 2 was posted a bit late.

So, how soon can we begin sorting the results of Round 2?

I'm hoping we can get the survey responses converted to a format that can be read by Excel Viewer, since that is what I have.

Just change the file extension to HTML

This is a HTML-Excel file (XHTML actually), and so is really just one big web page table. You can view it in a web browser without any plugin just by changing the filename extension to .html. If you have to, you could then copy the contents to a spreadsheet if you had to.

I don't know why it doesn't open in the excel viewer, but if you do the above it should be just as good.

Cheers,
Chris

Forgive me, I'm not as computer literate as I thought

How would I change the file extension to html?

Are you on a PC?

On a PC, rename the file from something.xls to something.html. You can do that by right-clicking on the file and clicking rename. One place people get stuck is in windows the file extensions are hidden. You need to go to Tools > Folder Options > View and then under Advanced Settings untick the setting "Hide extensions for known file types". This will uncover the extensions for all the files, which you can change to make files open in different programs.

Another way to do it, is when you save the file from the internet, just rename the file in the Save As dialog. Call it something.html and it will then open in the browser once downloaded.

On a Mac, it might be the same, but am not sure it will open any different.

Mailing list email

Hello Chris,
did the survey Round 2 email text come handy? I still have not seen an email to a mailing list of all participants (pardon me, if it has been circulated - I am merely going by the fact that I have not received it and I was one of the participants).

also, could you please update as to how many people have been able to fill in the Round 2 survey, I am about to do a second round of emailing and would be good to see how many people have participated already. (to the mailing list I mean - so that people from Round 1 will definitely be able to input)

thanks

Distilling/sorting of survey

Hey Quantum, My workweek might get severly hectic for the next couple of days, but I shall try and find time to review and sort some inputs of the survey. Let me know what help you need - don't forget, you can email me(bee(at)spacegeneration.org)
