Transportations Systems: A Lunar Railroad.
The railroad are build around the lunar South Pole. Teleoperated robots would do the job. A circular railroad would begin at a proposed lunar base and be used to construct and maintain a series of solar arrays used for power. They hypothesize that one kilometer of solar array could produce one megawatt of electricity. The materials for the railroad and the solar panels would all be constructed from lunar aluminum and lunar silicon.
An additional rail line would be built to link the lunar base to the dark cratered regions of the South Pole

for the transportation on moon ,robotics play important role,the whole system should be automatic.
Transportation required for transporting the minerals from rocks to refining factory...for transportation between different human habitat module.
sounds like a really good plan
although the resources for it will probly be hard to come by
would these (robots) be powered by slar
if so then we would need alot of solar power
2 years ago i heard of a contest nasa was doing to
make a robot that could make solar pannels on the moon
the silica process is just super complicated
but if we use the multifilm teck
from johannas solar
then it would be feasible
this would have to be a big robot
but it could be filled with foil and then fume the layers on
basically taking a big package and spreading it like
a really thin sheet across the surface
then after that
we could hook up another robot to make the silica cells
but the first would not use indigenous materials
until we have a material processing facility
both aluminum (boxite) and silica (glass, SiO2)
take large amounts of energy to isolate
but with a full electrical infrastructure already there
a magnetic "rail" would just need to be processed and assembled
them you have a magnetic launch point from the moon to other planets

I think this is going to be vital in order for the moon to be developed to any degree. I am no expert but I'd have to think that resources on the moon will be distributed in different places similar to earth. One spot may have a lot of aluminum, another spot a lot of silicon, another place ice, and another place an abundance of He3. For these reasons transporting all this material to a central 'factory' or habitat will be absolutely vital. I think we would probably need a more detailed geological examination of resources and from that decide where to build a railroad.
