How do I become a national point of contact?

Hello Everyone,

I am the National Point of Contact for India and the co-Regional coordinator for the Asia-Pacific region. I recently received a question on 'how can one become a national point of contact?'

Please use the answer that follows to assess if you would like to be a candidate for a national point of contact in your country. If so, please email the executive office (officer(at)spacegeneration.org) to register your interest along with your motivation and how you can contribute to our global organization:

Who are National Points of Contacts?
NPoCs are volunteers that are interested to be the contact point for SGAC in a country.

What do we expect from National Points of Contacts?
National Points of Contact (NPoCs) are expected to:

# do research what other organisations exist in their country
# get in contact with them

SGAC in principle does not want to create yet another space interest group.(although it can be used for that if there are no or few space groups in your country;
you are free to take advantage of our endorsed link to the UN to help you persuade people to support you in your country).

In several cases, we have found that it is highly beneficial for us to have more than one National Points of Contact for a country - especially if candidates for NPoCs are new to the organization. In this case, we expect the appointed 'co-NPoCs' to work together.

What does a NPoC do?
Step 1: familiarize yourself with all space activities especially carried out by youth, or focussed on the youth within your country. We would like the NPoCs to prepare this as an overview of the country's youth space activities, the different youth organizations that are involved, and the regional distribution.

Step 2: furthering your space awareness: Once you have familiarized yourself with the space activities and organizations, are there any events or projects that SGAC and the other student/youth organizations work on together? Are projects run by SGAC popular amongst these organizations, for e.g. Do the other youth organizations know of space generation congress, or Yuri's Night?

step 3: Engage: Organize with the help of experts within the country's youth space organizations, outreach programs that can spread the awareness of the space issues, benefits of space activities, and/or of special events such as, for e.g. talks coinciding with lunar/solar eclipses, or yearly events such as Yuri's Night OR ad-hoc events to celebrate anniversaries that may be more particularly important to the country's youth - for e.g. the anniversary of founding of the nation's space agency, flight of its first satellite or astronaut.

In other words, we are looking for NPoCs that are highly motivated and can dedicate some of their time to helping us understanding
* what is important to the youth space advocates in your country,
* what they are doing right now?,
* how can we help them and
* report how well was the help received and perhaps what can be done better next time! :-)

If you are interested after reading this, please contact our officer at officer@spacegneration.org to learn how to apply.
Please get in touch. Let's make Space Happen!

what will be the chance of AFRICA in space after 50 years?

hi!!! u know, i am so much interested with the activitias done by space generetion member especially in informing all what is happening in the space to us who we want to know, furthermore our world now is developing a mysterious technology for example people are now demanding to get a place to other planets to live. My worries is about Africa who is even dont have a plan for that, i think there must be a plan to help youngmen of Africa to start thinking or planing to join their fellow whites. Africa as Africa i believe have the bright people who can perticipate in space exploration if only they are given a chance for that,

the chance of africa in spacegeneration activities

The whole thing about spacegeneration is good for the benefit to the whole world, but for african countries there must be done something in additional as we knows that most of the countries here are still developing.Young africans need to motivated by using their fellow africans.
Together we can do this.

chance for africa in SGAC

africans have come a long way in the area of space related activities. the fact that we are part of a forum like this speaks for itself. indeed we have a problem of infrastructure but the african youth is determined to rise above that and reach out to the world.
now that some countries in africa have started space programs i do believe that others will follow suit and push at least for the coordinated utilization of space technologies in thier countries.
i am a believer in an african space agency that will harness and bring together our scarce resources and push for sustainable development in africa.
lets look at this goal and be there to talk to our leaders to cooperate.
