MoonMars Workshop Habitat Design Competition

MoonMars Workshop Habitat Design Competition

Project Goal:

Develop and evaluate designs for a human base on the moon. This shall be achieved by involving the broad public in annual habitat design contests and by raising public awareness for the lunar exploration initiatives.

Project Description:

The delegates will set up a habitat design contest to involve the public in human spaceflight activities, especially young people (possibly schools, universities, etc.). People in the project shall define the contest, develop internet presence, advertisement, press packs, guidelines & rules, and work on sponsoring and management issues. Much of this will be prepared before SGC 2007 with the congress being the official kick-off meeting with the output of a readily described design contest. Preparation of this project will need and involve a detailed discussion of current exploration initiatives and lunar base scenarios.
The actual contest will then be held and advertised shortly after SGC 2007, while evaluation and further design work is done in preparation of and at SGC 2008. This might include exhibitions and invitation of the finalists to SGC/IAC.

Goals/Tasks at SGC 2007:

  • Presentation and discussion of current lunar exploration initiatives and roadmaps
  • Definition of public habitat design contest
  • Development of web presentation, advertisement and detailed management plan of the above mentioned contest
