Highlight Projects
Visions for the next 50 years
Our flagship project this year is the development of visions for the next 50 years of space. This project commemorates the 50th anniversary of space travel taking place in 2007. The first stages involved surveys of youth from around the world to collect their visions. These visions were unveiled in Boston on Yuri's Night 2007, and will be developed throughout the course of this year.
Participation is open to all space generation members. The are plenty of opportunities to contribute, so please visit the project site for more information.
Yuri's Night
Yuri's Night is our longest running and most successful project to date. Celebrating the flight into space of Yuri Gagarin on April 12, each year over 100 parties are held around the world. Plan your own party next year, or join the global team to help spread the word of Yuri's Night around the whole world. Imagine if the whole world could think of space for just one day!
Launch your own space experiment
With the kind support of UP Aerospace the SGAC is now able to offer sub-orbital launches for small experiments at the lowest cost possible. Under this offer, an experiment can be flown into space, recovered, and provided back to young experimenters for as little as US$2000. Read more.
UN COPUOS Action Teams and Working Groups
An important way for policy input of SGAC is to bring your voice to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN COPUOS) through participation in several so-called Action Teams and Working Groups.
Participation is open for everyone, see the list here.
Space and Environment
Did you ever wonder if Space Technology and the space community could help the Earth's environment? Climate change, pollution, desertification, etc. are changing the ecological balance of our planet leading to loss of life and severe problems for humans at large. SGAC is at an early stage trying to scope out how Space Agencies and Technologies can help our planet, perhaps on a planetary scale. We need your help for it – together we can save the world and explore space at the same time. How? By delivering the correct message to the people who can most benefit from it.
Participation is open for everyone, learn more about the project here.
