SGAC welcomes Jesper Jorgensen as the new Regional Coordinator for Europe

Last week Space Generation held elections for European Regional Coordinator. Jesper Jorgensen of Denmark has won with 100% of the votes.

Jesper Jorgensen is psychologist with a special interest in confined and extreme environments and a specialization in space psychology. He has beside a M.Sc. in Psychology and Communication, degrees in International Education, Development studies, medical Informatics and Public Health. A general focus in the degree papers have been: cooping strategies in individuals living in stressful environments, and development of psycho-social programmes and materials for supporting professionals and others working with these humans. He has decades of clinical work as psychotherapist, educator and supervisor for populations and professionals
living in extreme environments or high stress situations. He is an experienced science communicator and science educator, both among professionals and in the general population.

Research interests are sensory stimulation in confined environments and development of new design concepts for coming long-term manned space missions in cooperation between space architects and space psychologists. A focus is the use of information technology in counselling and as a countermeasure to psychological problems in coming long-term interplanetary missions, and the use of integrated simulators for detecting new types of
psychological and human factor problems I relation to this missions. He is a member of the Design Engineering Technical Committee at American Institute of Astronautics and
Aeronautics and the Space Architecture Study group at International Academy of Astronautics.
