General Discussion

space food/botany

having conversations with many people about space endeeavuors
and all of their expertise has led me to an idea
for fruits grown in space
we could "bonzai" a tree
where you keep the tree small by trimming roots and branches
i had a conversation with e fellow named angel
while describing my idea for intravenious nutrient feeding in space
he pointed out that basic hydroponics with an added pressure differential
could posibly make the process work
basically having 2 chambers for the tree
root
leaves
i don't know the technical terms
but as the roots are in the hydroponic solution

Discussions leading up to the Space Generation Congress and the resulting paper submitted at the International Astronautical Congress 2008

Space traffic disrupting observing opportunities

As a student in Astrophysics I am thrilled by the idea about more people getting out and about in space in the next 50 years but also worried that beyond that, when the local neighbourhood of our little planet is perhaps a bit too crowded with traffic that our observing opportunities might be lessened by obstruction or interference from this traffic.

concept of wirelesss electricity

hi guys
i have an idea of wireless electricity. no one had thought of cellphones without wire 100 years ago but today its a reality. in the same way i think the future is of wireless electricity. imagine an aircraft flying without fuel on electric propulsion. it can increase the amount of load an aircraft can carry instead of the fuel.

This thread will discuss how the Next Generation's new visions can be distributed to the world leaders via leading discussion forums, societies, and recommendations can be made to today's policy drafters to account for emerging new trends in our world. Be it Energy, Space resource utilization, the development of private and personalised space travel, human exploration of Mars - have your say here. Your exciting future starts now!

Another presentation this week

I just thought I would let you all know that Kat Coderre will be presenting the visions this week at the AAS conference in Houston, as part of an invited panel session. Good work Kat!

Delegate Selection Announcement

I'm pleased to announce that we have selected two delegates to attend the symposium and workshop. These are Shi Heng (sheng) and Tiffany Frierson (QuantumP7).

Delegate selections?

According to the schedule, the delegate selections are supposed to be made today (March 15). And the day is almost over.

Anyone know what's going on with that?

Second Round Survey

Hope I haven't jumped the gun posting a new topic. This one seemed ill suited in other areas and I figured it needs a special focus. Also I was torn between this forum section and 'Survey Processing' if you think it should be over there thats fine.
