Leading Indian Astronomer visits Sri Lanka

Prof. Jayant Narlikar, a leading Indian astrophysicist, visits Sri Lanka this week on behalf of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) to promote the study of Astronomy. At 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, 4th December he talks on "Why Study Astronomy" at the University of Moratuwa, Department of Electronic & Telecomunication Engineering Seminar Hall 1 (ENTC-1).

He will give two public lectures in Colombo and Kandy on "Facts and Speculations in Cosmology".

Remembering Sir Arthur C Clarke on his 2nd Death Anniversary

A programme to commemorate Sir Arthur C Clarke on his second death anniversary was held today at the British Council Auditorium, 49, Alfred House Gardens, Colombo 3, Sri Lanka.

The event was jointly organised by the Sri Lanka Astronomical Association (SLAA) and the Arthur C Clarke Estate in partnership with the British Council.
