Chairman of the Board -
Dr. Peter H. Diamandis is
a successful entrepreneur and pioneer in the commercial
space arena. Diamandis co-founded Space
Adventures, Ltd, Zero
Gravity Corporation, and the Rocket
Racing League to
allow the public to experience the excitement of space
on a first-hand basis. Dr. Diamandis is the Chairman
and CEO of the X PRIZE Foundation,
a non-profit organization organizing and managing cash
prizes to drive innovation and breakthroughs. In 1987,
he co-founded the International
Space University (ISU) and served as the
University's first managing director. Today he is a
trustee of the $30M university located on its own campus
in Strasbourg, France. Diamandis received his
undergraduate and
graduate degrees in aerospace
engineering from the MIT and a medical degree from Harvard
Medical School. He was the winner of the 2006 (inaugural)
Heinlein Award, for Advances in Space Commercialization
in 2006.
Robert Richards studied
Engineering at Ryerson University (Toronto) and Space Sciences
at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY ) under Carl Sagan and
Frank Drake. He has co-founded many space advocacy groups
such as SEDS,
The Space Generation Foundation and Young Astronauts Canada.
In 1987, he, along with Peter Diamandis and Todd Hawley,
founded the International
Space University. Bob is the recipient of four major space awards:
K.E. Tsiolkovski Medal (Russia, 1995), Space Frontier “Vision to
Reality” Award
(USA , 1994), Arthur C. Clarke Commendation (Sri Lanka,
1990) and Aviation & Space
Technology Laurel (USA, 1988). Bob currently serves as
the Director, Space Division, at Optech Incorporated, Canada.
In 2005 Bob received a Doctorate of Space Achievement (honoris
causa) from the International Space
University for “distinguished accomplishments
in support of humanity’s exploration and use of space.”
Loretta Hidalgo Whitesides serves
as the President of the Space Generation Foundation. She
has a Masters degree in Biology from Caltech, a Bachelors
degree in Biology from Stanford and is a leader and pioneer
in the Space Generation community. She dove to the bottom
of the ocean with director James Cameron 5 times to film
the 3D IMAX movie "Aliens
of the Deep".
She also trains people to float weightless on ZERO-G's
727 aircraft and is planning the first ever sub-orbital
space honeymoon on Virgin Galactic with
her husband, George Whitesides. The couple also created
the annual world wide space party- Yuri's
Night. Loretta
is passionate about bringing
together people who want to use space to make a difference
for the planet.
George T. Whitesides is
the Executive Director of the
National Space Society. He
received his Masters degree in Remote Sensing from Cambridge
University, and his
BA
from Princeton in Public and International Affairs. He
is a former Fulbright Scholar, and served on
Princeton ’s
Board of Trustees. He is the co-founder of Yuri’s
Night and the
Project Director of Permission
to Dream, an international
educational charity based around astronomy. Whitesides
began his career at Orbital
Sciences Corporation, as Special Assistant to the President.
He also served as VP of Marketing at Zero
Gravity Corporation, a private space
tourism company. Whitesides has been featured
on MTV and NPR as a young leader in space. As part of the
Under African
Skies Project,
he traveled
through Africa as a space educator in 2001.
Andrew Hoppin is Director of Business Development at
N Space Labs, Inc. a leading provider of spatial data management, analysis,
and publication ASP services to Fortune 500 corporations. Andrew founded
a computer game development firm whose products were featured on CNBC,
The Discovery Channel, and in The New York Times and Barron's. He also
co-founded and serves on the Board of MoonFront,
LLC a marketing communications
and project management company for the aerospace and space tourism industries.
Andrew holds an M.Sc. degree from Berkeley in Remote Sensing, and a B.S.
degree from Brown University, in Planetary Geology. He is also an alumni
of the International Space University and the NASA
Academy programs.

for the Space Generation Advisory
Council and Rob Guiness is the North American Regional
Coordinator.
