Israel Ojeda
Bio
Having born in a small town called Apaxco, childhood dreams of being an astronaut but conscious of the unfavorable conditions for an space career in Mexico took him to follow his passion for innovation and choose a technological field that might allow him a future opportunity in space; Isra obtained his bachelor degree in Computer Systems at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo in 2004, his thesis focused on the design and implementation of a Wireless Metropolitan Area Network using the Spread Spectrum technology, it was while doing his thesis when an unusual visit to his university of the NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez along with the promoter of the Mexican Space Agency inspired him hope for space. The dream came back to life!
Afterwards, Isra did Information Technology consulting for the Company General Electric in the U.S. and became member of the Mexican American Engineers Society. It was in a visit to NASA Ames Research Center that he realized the technological gap and the lack of opportunities in the space field in Mexico, since that moment he challenged himself to change that reality for the next generations in Latin America and pursued a masters in Space Management after having received an scholarship by the International Space University in France.
During his master studies got the opportunity to do research and author a non-referred publication with the title "Recommendations to Develop Mexico's Space Program" which was handed to the Mexican Space Agency project team. Afterwards, Isra did an internship at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) at the Computational Science Research group. And also had the privilege to work with a high talented international team project called "FULL MOON" composed by 33 people from 19 countries where it was developed a case study for the development of a gas station on the lunar surface to store and deliver lunar Hydrogen and Oxygen for lunar exploration where Israel collaborated particularly on the Business and Management sub-team.
Currently Isra is working as a Consultant for General Electric but also collaborates with the Mexican Space Agency project team and serves as the National Point of Contact for Mexico and as the Regional Coordinator for North and Central America in Space Generation and is also a member of the SGAC Latin American Working Group which has been recently recognized by the International Astronautical Federation within the education groups for space outreach. On his free time enjoys traveling across the U.S and Canada attending conferences and events of space exploration and space tourism.
Based on the current global needs Isra is interested in the use of science, technology and education for the pacific, sustainable human-and-environmental development through multicultural understanding on Earth, Moon and Mars. His dream is that one day Latin American children have equal opportunities to enrich the mankind knowledge about the exploration of the Solar system.
