Deadline extended! Applications are open from June 1st until July 6th, 2021, at 23:59 GMT.

Successful applicants will be contacted by July 15th, 2021.

Applications will be evaluated based on your motivation to attend SGC, your breadth/depth of experience, your ability to contribute to the overall event, as well as your insights and passion for space. Please note that all decisions made by the selection committee are final and due to the volume of applications, we are unable to provide feedback on individual applications. Delegates will be able to participate both fully in-person or online this year. All applications, regardless of in-person or online participation, will be evaluated equally.

SGC Moderators

This year, we are offering select delegates the opportunity to contribute to the SGC as Working Group Moderators, alongside the SGC 2021 Organising Team. Moderators will coordinate a Working Group and facilitate team discussions about the Working Group Topic (Please see: Working Groups for more information about the planned topics for this year).

Tasks include:

  • Working with Subject Matter Experts, Working Group speakers and conference delegates as a team, emphasizing good communication and moderating discussions
  • Provide respectful feedback during the discussions
  • Answer and direct the discussions in a timely, polite, and fair manner
  • Ensure SGC Working Groups are on task and on topic
  • Follow up with Working Group members to coordinate and edit the group’s contribution to the SGC final report
  • Report to the SGC Working Group Coordinators on progress and directions

In order to support the training of moderators, selected applicants will have a dedicated SGC Moderators Workshop to prepare for the role. The workshop aims to enhance your professional development, leadership, and international collaboration skills, as well as your verbal and written communication skills. Note that being selected for this position does not automatically imply that SGAC can provide funding for attending the Congress, nor guarantee a scholarship.

Estimated time commitment: 10 hours cumulative prior to the SGC; 3 days during the SGC and 10 hours cumulative post SGC

Period of Performance: 01 October 2021 to 01 December 2021

Requirements:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar, writing, and communication skills
  • Dynamism and organization
  • Interest in working with international cultures and diverse backgrounds
  • Prior experience as moderator of events or in attending an SGAC event is preferred

Space Generation Leadership Award

The Space Generation Leadership Award facilitates the attendance of international delegates who bring unique and insightful first-hand perspectives to the Space Generation Congress. It selects top international applicants to attend the 19th Space Generation Congress (21 – 23 October 2021) and the 72nd International Astronautical Congress (IAC) (25 – 29 October, 2021) held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates!

Be aware and save your time! Previous recipients of the Space Generation Leadership Award or the Global Grant Programme are not eligible for the SGLA.

The delegate selection process for SGC is highly competitive. The information you provide will be used to evaluate your application to be a delegate at the 19th Space Generation Congress.

You are welcome to write a paragraph or a series of bullet points for each question. Remember we can only assess you on the information provided, so feel free to add details where appropriate (e.g. “interned at JSC for 3 months in mission operations” vs “completed internship” when discussing experiences, or “I would like to show how the energy industry and aerospace can collaborate” vs “I have new perspectives” when discussing unique insights).

To be able to apply for the SGC 2021 you must be a member of SGAC. If you are not a member, please register at https://spacegeneration.org/register. The SGAC registration and membership is free.

For questions or concerns regarding the application process, please contact the Delegates Team at [email protected].

Best of luck!
